DAN Architects is an architectural firm based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Founded in 2017 by Dan Roukoz the firm has built a wide range of projects of various scales, and programs and participated in local and international competitions for which it was awarded several prizes and distinctions. The office remain involved in the academic realm and takes part in teaching studios conferences and research in Switzerland and abroad.
Dan Roukoz studied in Canada at the University of Montreal and at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne where he graduated in 2008 with a M.Sc. in architecture. At the prestigious architecture school of EPFL he had the privilege to be part of the studios given by the Japanese office SANAA, the Spanish office Mansilla&Tunon and professor Patrick Berger. He was awarded several prizes for his academic achievements in both Canada and Switzerland and was an invited critic at the university of Montreal and the EPFL. After his graduation he joined the architectural firm Personeni Raffaele Schärer and became partner in 2013. He founded DAN Architects in 2017
Julien Cochard studied at the EPFL Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne where he obtained a Master’s degree in Architecture M.Sc. in 2008. He attended the workshops of Professors Vincent Mangeat, Patrick Mestelan, Yves Weinand and Patrick Berger. Julien participated in the remake of the exhibition "The Family of Man" by Edward Steichen at the Jeu de Paume in Paris for which he received the SHS Award for the best project. After his studies, he joined the Pont12 Architects a Lausanne based firm where he headed several projects and developed a wide experience in sustainable design and large-scale social projects. He notably led the design and construction of a passive straw bale house near Lausanne. Passionate about theatre, he has directed and performed in many amateur plays. He joined Dan Architects in 2021.
