This project is about creating an infrastructure node, an interface mainly designed to manage car traffic within the ski resort. Ultimately, most car traffic would be replaced by small public electric shuttles as is the case in several other ski resorts in the Swiss Alps. The parking structure has a capacity of 1200 parking spots and is completed by info points, shops and restaurants. Other facilities such as multi-purpose halls, conference rooms, and movie theaters, can also be found on the upper levels.
The architecture of this project clearly distances itself from the built heritage of Grimentz. It is indeed a large structure, but it merges with natural elements of comparable size like the rugged terrain, the rocks, etc. The levels follow the slope of the terrain in a way to optimize earth-moving and excavations.
